Historical Note
Willard R. Hansen (b. 1931) sold real estate and insurance in his native Cedar Falls. He served two terms in the House and two terms in the Senate of the Iowa General Assembly before retiring from the legislature in 1981 to work as a lobbyist for a contractors' association.
Scope and Content
The papers in this collection concern Hansen's work with education legislation during his years in the General Assembly. Boxes 1-3 contain publications and reports dealing with education with emphasis on educational financing and Iowa education. Boxes 4-8 include correspondence, memos, clippings, reports, and notes dealing with Hansen's experience with Iowa education legislation. Of special importance is material concerning Area Education Agencies (A.E.A.) and special education.
