Ms. Harnack was born in Remsen, Iowa, on September 6, 1888. She went on to earn a BA from Iowa State Teachers College and a Masters from Wayne College in Nebraska. She taught school in Roland, Iowa, as well as other communities in the state, but most of her time as an educator was spent in Detroit, Michigan. She retired in 1964 and returned to Remsen.
She was a member of the national retired teachers association and Remsen Library Board of Directors, and an associate member of the Remsen Women's Club.
Ms. Harnack died in Remsen on October 22, 1964.
Scope and Content
This box contains the diary of Elizabeth C. Harnack, who was a student at Iowa State Normal School for the 1907-1908 academic year. This diary gives a fascinating glimpse into the life of a college student just after the turn of the 20th century.
