Historical Note
Born August 28, 1938, in Emmet County, Iowa, Diane Brandt graduated from Armstrong High School before earning a Bachelor of Science degree from Iowa State University in 1961. She served on the Cedar Falls Planning and Zoning Commission, as president of Waterloo-Cedar Falls League of Women Voters, and as president of Waterloo branch of American Association of University Women. Brandt was also a member of the Women's Political Caucus, NAACP, Common Cause, National Municipal League, First Presbyterian Church. She was first elected to the General Assembly in 1974. A Democrat, she served District 35 as State Representative from 1975 to 1982.
Scope and Content
These papers consist primarily of printed material arranged as subject files. The printed material includes newspaper clippings, Iowa House and Senate bills, maps, state and federal reports, Democratic party literature, and legislative memoranda. There also is a limited amount of correspondence interfiled in the appropriate subject folders. In addition, some of the printed material has been annotated by Brandt.
