UNIVERSITY OF NORTHERN IOWA ARCHIVES

Photograph Collection: Subject Classification

This page is a guide to the Photograph Collection (Record Group 23). The bulk of the collection pertains to the Iowa State Normal School, the Iowa State Teachers College, the State College of Iowa, and the University of Northern Iowa. A smaller number of materials related to the surrounding community and region. The collection is arranged according to subject. Please note that there is some overlap between subjects, so be sure to check multiple areas to better ensure you are finding all relevant materials. Additional photographs may be found in the broader University Archives collections. For example, the Department of Theatre collections and the University Relations collections contain many photographs that both supplement and complement the Photograph Collection. Additionally, many of the subject areas listed below include oversize photographs. To access these, please ask SC&UA staff for assistance.

Please note that some of the subject titles were created by the photographer and/or office. Such titles have been retained to maintain the creator's work. If you have any comments, questions, or concerns, please email libarchives@uni.edu.
